Hi, I am using cool edit pro 1.2a for cleaning my audio cassettes classical. I find it difficult to get only noise on some cassettes. is it only way to edit through equalisers. whatever I try to tend to loose low frequency instruments like tambura

Hello. It sounds like you're simply over-processing the noise reduction. And as far as capturing an 'only noise' sample..do you mean that the program material on your cassette goes from leader-to-leader, with absolutely NO stopping? Even still, surely there's a moment (if only a second or two) where you could grab a sample. If not, you can still pretty effectively use NR. You might also try the Hiss Reduction transform. That may actually perform better in this scenario.
