Is there any software for recording digitally (S/PDIF) from a DAT deck to a Live! sound card, without touching the faders? Just passing the digital information just like it is... Is there a way to do this in Cool Edit?

It lies in the LIVE software. Because you have to go through the SB mixer you theoretically have to touch a fader (though if you leave it at the preset level it's invisible) even if you use the digital in on the LIVE card or the SPDIF daughter board. If you want "no fader" you have to get a different soundcard.

Thanks Craig,

by the moment, I´ll keep the Live!. (...no $)
I´m not using the Live! Mixer (I don´t like it much), I use the Windows mixer and never know when is in 0db...
It´s a problem. No wanna touch the original signal...

Thanks anyway, and sorry for my english (I´m argentinian).

I bought my LIVE card specifically to do digital transfers ... itwas the least expensive I could find that would do S/PDIF and function as a normal soundcard for my kids video games. I've never gone in to use the SB digital mixer. I leave the settings where they are, which in my DAT tranfers has been at Unity level. You should be able to check the CEP meters and the DAT meters to see if they are the same level. For that purpose, and used that way, the LIVE card is actually pretty good. I havent' used the analog inputs yet, but probably will in the future, though I'm not expecting a whole lot.
