I set 1st 8 trks to toslink inputs and trks 9-12 to analog left and right
inputs,I set my core 2 punch monitor to monitor all inputs and ouytputs (maybe
thats is my mistake?) I next armed trks 9-12 to record, then armed 1-8 trks to
record, then when I went to cool edit settings and hit monitor record levels cool
edit performed an illegal operation and shut down. regarding the the core 2 I'm
not sure if clock setting for this should be internal or adat

!!! LAUREN FROM LEXICON CALLED ME TODAY AND SUCCESSFULLY SIMULTANEOUSLY
RECORDED 10 TRACKS TO COOL EDIT SE 8 TRKS WERE ADAT AND THE REMAINING TWO TRACKS
WERE ANALOG...COULD THIS BE A COOLEDIT PRO 1.2 VERSION PROBLEM THAT UNINSTALLING
IT AND LOADING MY 1.2A VERSION WOULD CURE.. I KNOW I SHOULD HAVE UPGRADED
SOONER BUT I'VE BEEN HAVING TO MUCH FUN WITH RECORDING TO SHUT IT DOWN LONG
ENOUGH TO DO THIS!...OR COULD IT BE A FOSTEX D-108 STAND ALONE HARD DRIVE
RECORDER ISSUE,ISN'T ADAT OUT...JUST THAT ADAT OUT?.. MAYBE THE FOSTEX HAS TO
BE THE MASTER ...I THINK IT IS WHEN I SET CORE 2 TO ADAT CLOCK...I STILL NEED TO CHECK MY VIDEO DRIVERS AND FOR CONFLICTS (IRQ)
UP TILL THIS EXPERIMENT MY SYSTEM HANDLED 16 TRACKS WITH 2 - 3 PLUGINS PER TRACK FLAWLESSLY AND STILL DOES.
HEY SYNTRILLIUM.. COULD YOU GUYS TRY THIS WITH AN ADAT AND A CORE 2 SYSTEM...PLEASE?

CEP will record whatever you tell it to. If you want to record ADAT and analog at the same time it's a soundcard/clock source problem, not a software one. When transferring digitally, the digital source has to be the source clock ... so set your Fostex' clock to internal, and your Lexicon clock to external (ie the fostex ADAT stream). Of course you should have upgraded to 1.2a a LONG time ago. It's much more stable than 1.2, and resolves a couple of other niggly little bugs as well.

Thanks for the reply Craig..
thats exactly the way it is configured, the core 2 has 3 clock options..adat,internal and word clock so it is set to adat and the fostex is set to adat out which works fine when simply transferring tracks to cool edit pro.The problem is when you hit the record button in cep (with all the tracks set to their appropriate incoming sources) cep 1.2 performs an illegal operation and cause a page fault in wimm.dll file (wimm.dll installed 4-3-98 part of the o.s. system I presume) Anyway under problem devices my computer tells me their is a problem with the advanced power management error code 10. this problem has been their since 98 when my brother in law put in the os system for me. regardless of this the system runs fine, but I would like to figure it out though.
thanx for the reply
