When will Syntrillium add 24-bit WDM support to Cool Edit 2000?
While CE2K works with WDM drivers, it's only at 16-bits, right?

just out of curiosity-
what sound card are you using?
anyway im pretty sure that the bit depth thing is specific to the sound card driver.
-waiting for sonar.

Cool Edit 2000 works with all bit depths.
One is limited only by the soundcard's capabilities.

Edward, I use M-audio Delta 1010's.
No, the bit depth thing is NOT just specific to the driver.
Once you install WDM drivers your audio application MUST be able to use the new format to process at 24-bits.
CWPA 9.x does not work at 24-bits under WDM (I tried it). That's why I'm waiting for SONAR as well.
I know that CE2000 currently works at all bit depths, it's a different thing with WDM and Cool Edit will have to be enhanced in the same way that Cakewalk had to be enhanced in order to support 24-bits.
Beetle - are you using WDM and CE2000 with 24-bit WAV files?

Currently, Cool Edit does not support WDM drivers. The problem has arisen among the Midiman series, who have chosen to release (and work with) the WDM spec. This seems to be confined to Midiman and Win2K. However, there have been many succesfull reports of people using Win2K and non-WDM drivers with the Echo line of cards that have successfully recorded at 24-bit resolution.

Just know that we've taken your suggestions into consideration.

Thanks, Tech Support, for the reply.
I am currently using CE2K with my NT drivers, just as the Echo users are.
The problem is that in order to use the improvements that come with WDM, all my software will have to support it. I don't think we can have both kinds of drivers going at the same time.

Hi. Well again, you could certainly have both drivers installed, but cool edit is only going to see the MME driver, not the WDM.

But my delta 1010's will only be configured with one or the other (WDM or MME), not both.
Each hardware device has one and only one driver installed at a time, right?
Or am I missing something?

drivers for delta series cards are mme, directsound, asio, easi, and(depending on your os)gsif.
if you want to use cep as sonars wave editor it should be no problem, because cep will just access the wave driver.
the latest wdm driver from midiman was released on the 5th.so far i havent had any problems, except that i cant choose JUST spdif or delta analog out in mtrack view.all outs are simultaneous.on the other hand, latency is much improved(practically nill),and my soft synths work better than ever.also(using mme i assume)i recorded 24bit 48k files in wavelab-no errors.they opened up like a charm in cep(as 32bit which is normal).btw im using the wdm drivers in winme(98lite ver),delta dio2496,and cool edit pro....cheers!edward
