It has been my experience that .pk files significanly increase the speed of loading a large file. Yet when I save a file to MP3 there are no .pk files, only when I save wav files. Why is this? Is there a setting I have missed?

CEP supports .pk file for only two file formats. Windows PCM (*.wav) 16-bit and Windows PCM (*.wav) 32-bit 16.8 float. These two file formats are native to Cool Edit, others are not. That is why it won't work with MP3 files.
