I'm sure you all have seen these Frappr maps before. I thought it would be an interesting thing to have here. It works via postal code, so it won't actually pin-point your exact location...but it will put you in the right area. :D http://www.frappr.com/audiomasters Title: Re: Member Map Post by: SteveG on February 10, 2006, 10:01:08 AM

I've been through this before...if you go to "Update your Basic Profile" you can zoom in on the map and place yourself within a few yards. ...not sure you'd WANT to give that much info though! Bob Title: Member Map Post by: Havoc on February 10, 2006, 02:24:14 PM

Naturally our village doesn't exist - and Google's maps of France are pitiful! Still, I managed to move my pinpoint so it's pretty close, even if it's not obvius how to correct the written location...

And if we line up single file straight away it's conceivable he could remove all of us in one go... so spread out. Pity the blokes dead center middle, though. They're gone. You really reckon on your chances of getting here without getting mugged, do you? I usually collect or escort visitors unless they know the area well. There are places to avoid... (hehe! ) Personally, I'd rather not live here any more - the neighbourhood isn't what it was. But moving for a little while isn't a serious option though - unfortunately. Ah, just come on over to North Dakota. Our winters are usually cranky enough that all but the hardiest malcontents go elsewhere. :P :o

Only 1 Frenchman? Where are the Germans? The Swiss? The Poles? The Russians? The Italians? What about the Arabs and Africans? Only 1 each from Norway / Sweden? Sweden is where Britney Spears and other singers go for "training" on how to sing / act / write songs... The land of ABBA has only 1 user? 1 person from NYC? No one in Woodstock / Bearsville using AA? Adobe needs to shake a leg and get its marketing team into action. Title: Member Map Post by: PQ on February 12, 2006, 04:25:55 PM

The Poles?
I'm here, but I have not put myself on the map. I am waiting until I can enter both where I am from AND where I am now. Title: Member Map Post by: VoodooRadio on February 12, 2006, 05:34:53 PM
I (for some reason) can't get it to work properly. I did manage to put my info in and can't get a map to come up. :? Title: Member Map Post by: Andrew Rose on February 12, 2006, 05:45:22 PM

Sounds like it. If you tought for a single instance that any frenchman would visit an english forum, think again. (likewise for germany, but even englishmen don't go there) Title: Member Map Post by: pwhodges on February 12, 2006, 06:53:23 PM

My son (http://www.mh-stuttgart.de/studium/fachgruppen/vita/hodges/) lives in Germany - at least there is still some respect (and even money, more to the point!) for classical musicians there  Paul Title: Member Map Post by: Havoc on February 12, 2006, 08:36:57 PM
Okay, too fast that one.

And, why for the USA does the Map Legend read: Guys (100%) Gals (0%) ...when Despised7 is clearly not male? Title: Member Map Post by: Aim Day Co on February 12, 2006, 11:43:08 PM

And, why for the USA does the Map Legend read: Guys (100%) Gals (0%) ...when Despised7 is clearly not male? I think that if you look at the legend, you'll see that it's a slightly different colour (but not really different enough), which distinguishes Despised7 as being the owner of this Frappr. LMAO.....I thought the same exact thing when I first created it! I checked my profile twice to make sure that I selected "male", but I guess I'm doomed to the "not male, but not-quite female" color.  Title: Member Map Post by: plook on February 15, 2006, 06:23:55 AM
 Hmmmmm, that sort of color ambiguity is pretty confusing considering there is no mention an "owner" color elsewhere on the page. Now that I look at it more critically there is indeed a subtle difference in the shade of red but it isn't something you would examine given that there is a legend at the bottom showing red and blue pegs. Please ignore the Valentine e-card I sent when I thought you were female, Despised. heheh Title: Member Map Post by: Despised7 on February 17, 2006, 03:50:20 AM

It works via postal code, so it won't actually pin-point your exact location...but it will put you in the right area. http://www.frappr.com/audiomasters I clicked on the "Edit" buttons for my entry, selected "Hybrid" (map and satellite picture superimposed), zoomed in, and was able to place my pin right on my house. I clicked "Save Marker Position", and then exited out back to the main page. Still, when I click on my pin and then click on "Zoom > Street", that pin has not moved to the new location over my house (the pin seems to be randomly placed in the middle of Van Nuys). Of what use, then, is the ability to edit the location of the pin? Zemlin's pin seems to be attached to a specific house, so I'm assuming the pin can be moved. This is fun. Title: Member Map Post by: groucho on February 19, 2006, 10:55:56 PM
Heh... if your pin is correctly placed, bonnder, you live about 3 blocks from where I used to live in Van Nuys.:) Small world. Chris Title: Member Map Post by: bonnder on February 20, 2006, 05:07:48 AM
Small world indeed. When were you in Van Nuys? The pin should actually be just to the right of the phrase "Pinecrest Elementary School" on Sherman Way - up and to the right of the pin's current location. As I stated, I changed the pin's location in my edit screen, but that change does not translate to the screen that seems to be available to the general public. Title: Member Map Post by: groucho on February 20, 2006, 05:53:40 AM
I was there for a couple years around 2000-2002. Roundabout by Sherman Way and Haskell. But I mostly lived at the Liquid Zoo on Sepulveda...:) Chris Title: Member Map Post by: Andrew Rose on February 20, 2006, 06:58:51 AM

I'd guessed that it was inevitably going to be a spam generator, which is why I gave it my 'spam' email address, and set frappr to be junk mail. Title: Member Map Post by: Despised7 on February 20, 2006, 08:55:38 PM
I haven't noticed any spam from frappr yet. Although, I'm using my gmail account that pretty much catches all spam. I didn't see anything in the junk folder though.
