VST and iLok are two completely different things.  VST is the type of plug-in.  ILok is a simply storage and transportation method for your plug-ins.  I've seen VST, RTAS, and HTDM plug-in formats available for iLok.  It appears the Sonitus plug-ins are either Direct X or VST.  I didn't see any mention of iLok on the website.

I have three sonitus plugs - two were bought back when they were Ultrafunk - one came from Cakewalk.  They are VST & DX - no iLok.

I'm completely aware that they are two different things.  It's just that some vendors (like some of Waves stuff) have a way of making what should be simple downloads and installs rather complicated if you're a non-iLok user like me.

Which three do you have?  I assume because you own three, you're well pleased with them.

I have the reverb, the multiband compressor, and the standard compressor.  The two I use most are the reverb and the multiband compressor.  The interface on the MBC is excellent and it's very easy to dial in exactly the right settings to dial out any sort of problem you're trying to correct.

I've picked up a lot of reverbs since buying the sonitus reverb, but I find that I often use the sonitus plug just for early reflections.  It does a great job of adding a sense of space.  I usually use more complex reverbs for the late reflections.

CPU effeciency was one big reason I bought these plugs back in the day when I was running a PIII 750.  I now have a 2.4 GHz quad core for my DAW, so CPU isn't quite the issue it used to be, but I still use the 'verb and the MBC.

The multiband compressor is the one I thought I might be interested in.  Glad to hear that you give it a good report.

I don't use the Sonitus MBC when I'm trying to apply something overall to the mix - other options that I have sound better, although I don't really use any MBC in that capacity much at all.  The Sonitus is better for more surgical work.  it's great for difficult de-essing problems, controlling an over-resonant note on an instrument - that sort of thing.

That's the way I would be using it -- for an overall mix.  What do you like better?

Ozone is my first go-to for mastering, but as I said ... MBC is not usually part of my mastering process.
