But if you select 'track' in the mixdown options box, you can export all of the ones in your mix to fresh files starting at zero time, yes.

Thanks, Peter.

That's why I suggested it...   Cool  wink

Well, Peter managed to explain it in one concise line, which is why I read his message.  wink

Heh, I see now that you did say the same thing Steve.  Too many threads, too much rapid reading.  But as I understand it, this does only provide post-effects, post fader & pan etc.  An option to export just the raw tracks would be a good new feature.

I'm not quite sure where you start or stop with this, although I think I can guess. My guess would be that what was required was to export only the material assembled on the track, with no effects, volume or pan automation, or anything. Just so that you could export the unmixed blocks with the timing intact to something inferior like PT and have somebody make a worse job of mixing it... or do you want the basic automation in place?

I think you would need to offer a number of options. Most of the time I would want to keep volume envelope changes in place and sometimes possibly track effects like compression too.

I'm still waiting for the full copy of version 2 to arrive so I've not used this feature in anger but I suspect that thinking about your working methods when working on a project that will be transferred elsewhere will pay dividends. If you use reverbs on busses rather than individual tracks then it is easier to remove the reverb when exporting as you don't have to switch it off on every track.

Cheers

James.

PS - it might be worth pointing out to the original poster that the bulk export feature only exists in version 2. In earlier versions you have export each track individually.

I'm sure that's true - and if you know you are going to have to export it, you will act accordingly. But with care, that's the situation we've got now, isn't it? You stop at a convenient point with your processing, and if you want to go further, then you make a duplicate track and process that (or put the effects on busses, as you suggest).

I think that if you know where you want to go from the outset, everything you need is already present, and the only thing you might need to add as a nicety is the ability to export a raw track with just the timing in place.
